this is too cute
i don’t know what to tell you
other than the fact that a giraffe’s
heart weighs 22 pounds and that
somebody once told me when
flies fall in love, their entire brain
is rewired to only know loving each
other. when one of them dies, their
memory becomes blank. i hope you
never think about anything as much
as i think about waking up next to
you during a windstorm at 5 am.
lexically cohesive but not textually cohesive…. is it?

“Christopher, you can’t mean it.”
I found the ending rather stupid!!!:( call me a hopeless romantic but Sylvia DID love Christopher (in her own twisted way) and everything she did was to make him show that he loved her back cos he’s an emotionless piece of shit. She tortured him but she also prayed for his safe return from the war! All valentine did was ruin Christopher’s honor and WAIT for him. hello??? How hard is waiting? Not hard at all. And certainly much easier than scheming and plotting. Sylvia may have her faults but at the end of the day she loved Christopher and Christopher loved her AND SHE IS THE RIGHTFUL MRS TIETJENS yet she lost to valentine argh the ending angered me. And they didn’t provide a proper ending for all the characters (staying true to Ford’s manner i guess) so I’m assuming that Sylvia lived out her days cold and alone and forever true to the husband that abandoned her. And that saddens me cos she’s beautiful and deserves to have a loving husband:(
“Sylvia, her long arm held out from a yard or so away, was stretching out her hand to Valentine’s mother. With her clear, high, unembarrassed voice she exclaimed, also from a yard or so away, so as to be heard by everyone in the room:
‘You’re Mrs Wannop. The great writer. I’m Christopher Tietjens’ wife.’
The old lady, with her dim eyes, looked up at the younger woman towering above her.
‘You’re Christopher’s wife!’ she said. ‘I must kiss you for all the kindness he has shown me’
Valentine felt her eyes filling with tears. She saw her mother stand up, place both her hands on the other woman’s shoulders. She heard her mother say:
‘You’re a most beautiful creature. I’m sure you’re good!’
Sylvia stood, smiling faintly, bending a little to accept the embrace. Behind the Macmasters, Tietjens and the staff officers, a little crowd of goggle eyes had ranged itself.
Valentine was crying. She slipped back behind the tea-urns, though she could hardly feel the way. Beautiful! The most beautiful woman she had ever seen! And good! Kind! You could see it in the lovely way she had given her cheek to that poor old woman’s lips…And to live all day, for ever, beside him…she, Valentine, ought to be ready to lay down her life for Sylvia Tietjens…”
